Euxton Villa enjoyed a 2-0 win over second placed Nelson FC in the league.

Goals from Dan Singleton and Jordan Bentham established a fantastic performance from Villa, against a team that beat us 2-0 on their soil a few months back. 

In a rather rainy setting for the weekend fixture, the first ten minutes saw lively starts from the two- with both creating a couple of chances and bits of play. 

But it took just 20 minutes for Villa to take the lead; Joel Darley’s cross setting George Davies up on the left to put the cross into the box, meeting Singleton in the box to comfortably slot home. 

Granted, the Nelson ‘keeper in the first half provided some fantastic saves to keep Villa from extending their lead- meaning the two went in for the break with a goal to separate them. 

Fantastic work from the whole squad saw Villa ultimately outplay Nelson, ands this was established in the 50th minute by Bentham’s powerful shot on the edge of the box flying straight into the back of the net. 

Despite Villa going down to ten men in the 65th minute, they were able to hold on and continue dominating. 

And an unbelievable save from Oli Lombard in the 91st minute provided not only a win, but a well deserved clean sheet too. 

With the full time whistle going and a 2-0 win, the three points mean Villa sit a bit more comfortably in 5th place in the league. 

Man of the match went to Jordan Bentham, whose goal and overall shift on the pitch saw him stand out in a very strong team performance.
