Euxton Villa exit the FA Vase with a 2-0 defeat against Ramsbottom. 

The team that knocked us out of the same competition last season, Villa travelled to Bury in the hopes of rewriting the narrative. 

But goals in the 39th and 74th minutes from Ramsbottom secured progression for the home side for the second time. 

Despite difference in leagues between the two sides, Villa started lively in a bid to get an early opener. 

Kai Shorrock came close by hitting the woodwork from a long range effort and Joel Darley tried his luck with a shot from the half way like; but both came to no avail for the Villains. 

Villa’s hard work was undone by Ramsbottom’s experience and quality on the ball, the goals breaking down defence and coming from a set piece. 

Oliver Lombard provided vital saves to deny the hosts extending their lead any further, and despite Villa’s best efforts they just couldn’t get back into the game. 

A 2-0 defeat after the full time whistle meant we exit the FA Vase. 

We look now to Wednesday’s midweek game versus Garstang in the Edward Case Cup; the third cup we are still in this season.
