Euxton Villa exit the Lancashire Challenge Trophy after a 3-0 defeat to Bacup Borough. 

Despite a dominant second half, it was missed opportunities that cost Villa, with Bacup’s counter attacking and performance ultimately handing them the win. 

With Joel Darley hitting the crossbar and forcing a save from the ‘keeper in the first half, it looked like Villa would be the ones to open the scoring. 

And they did that in the 48th minute, Jordan Bentham though just being caught offside after his header beat Bacup’s ‘keeper. 

Going into the break goalless, it was clear Villa knew they had work to do in the second half. 

But the 55th minute and Bacup had their opener. 

And it took just three minutes after that for them to have their second. 

Villa had hopes reignited after a penalty was awarded from Jack Wyers-Roebuck being brought down in the box- but George Davies’ spot kick was saved by Billy Blake. 

Bacup were to score their third four minutes after the missed penalty, establishing a 3-0 lead going into the final 20 minutes of the game. 

And despite their best efforts, Villa were to fall short and lose 3-0 on home turf. 

Despite exiting this cup, hope is not lost as we still look forward to the Edward Case and Macron cups this season.
